My Morning Routine

What better way to start my first blog post than with My Morning Routine!

Here are are some of my tips and tricks for setting the tone for a productive and successful day!

Wake up 10 min. before I MUST get out of bed.

Drink the 20 oz. water bottle sitting on my night stand.

  • Hydrating first thing in the morning is important to waking up the cells in your body. I love that its also a way to detox and flush out all the toxins and impurities.

Close my eyes and think of 3 things I’m grateful for.

  • Waking up focused on the good things in my life starts my day on a beautiful note. Some mornings my list is as simple as a good nights rest, fuzzy socks and 100% phone charged.

Grab my notepad and jot down my focus for the day and to-do list.

  • I never try to overwhelm my self first thing in the morning. Just a short road map to my day and the essentials I have to get done.

Plan my meals

  • If I haven’t meal prepped, envision my healthy meals/snacks I’ll eat that day. ( love day dreaming about my sushi lunches ;))

Jump out of bed and stretch!

  • If I’m feeling real sluggish that morning I’ll drop down and do 10 pushups followed by 10 jumping jacks and a quick stretch to get the blood flowing!

Press play on my favorite podcast while I get ready

  • I love stimulating my mind and listening to a motivational podcast as I get ready. Right now I’m obsessed with Chalene Johnson.

Cheers!

Fats for a Healthier You!

It took me a while to accept the fact that there are such things as good fats. With all the diet myths out there, I was convinced that foods high in fat would make me fat! After incorporating good fats into my diet recently, I learned our body needs essential fatty acids (EFA’s) for overall good health! Here is what I discovered….

Saturated fats like MCT oil, found in coconut oil, can actually make you feel full longer!

When you eat saturated fats they slow down absorption so you go longer without feeling hungry. These days I’ve been eating more avocados, cooking with coconut oil, and even adding the oil  to my morning coffee!  Added bonus: Coconut oil makes for a great moisturizer! Try moisturizing with it before bed and be prepared to have soft and smooth skin!!

Foods high in omega-6 and omega-3’s can also help achieve glowy, healthy skin.

These fats increase skin elasticity and prevent aging.  Think salmon, tuna,  chia seeds and walnuts! Fatty acids in these foods help to maintain a healthy cell membrane which protects from harmful substances and influences the ability for the cells to retain water.

Lastly, good fats for optimal brain functioning.

Ever feel like your always tired and in a mental fog? I’ve been there!!  After experimenting with fish oil pills for the past month, I’ve discovered that the omega 3’s in these pills help with mental clarity, concentration and memory.

With all that being said, I say give it a go and incorporate healthy fats into your diet ASAP!

Cheers!

Lots of Love,
